10 celebrities I'm tired of

I have to admit, I'm actually tired of all celebrities. I long for the days when all I knew about celebrities was how well they performed in their latest TV shows or movies. There was a time when I was able to judge them based on their talent, and nothing else. But those times are forever gone. Now, I'm constantly inundated with every little sordid detail of their ridiculous lives.

I'm sick of celebrities! I don't want to hear about their unnatural mating habits, outlandish courtships, clandestine weddings, and messy breakups. I don't want to see photos of their bizarre plastic surgery mishaps. I don't care if they gained or lost excessive amounts of weight. I'm tired of hearing about their peculiar addictions and their tedious attempts to be cured of them. Their artificial lives bore me.

So, while this is a list of 10 celebrities I'm tired of, it certainly isn't a list of the only 10 celebrities who I feel deserve the distinction.

1. Paris Hilton
2. Oprah
3. Ashton Kutcher
4. Tom Cruise & Katy Holmes
5. Lindsay Lohan
6. Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie
7. Jennifer Aniston
8. Britney Spears
9. Madonna
10. Any pseudo-celebrity from any reality TV show (including contestants, hosts, winners, and even celebrity audience members)

Only in Canada, eh?

Beaver Soda

Husband brought this interestingly-named pop home the other day. He said it tasted pretty good.

I prudently decided not to ask what it tasted like. ;o)

Thursday thirteen: 13 unusual ways to spice up plain popcorn

I'm participating in Thurday thirteen!

I love popcorn. Even a boring movie is bearable if I have my favorite snack to munch on.

I usually eat my popcorn with a little melted butter on top, or sometimes I go wild and shake a bit of cheese onto it. Imagine, though, topping your popcorn with icing sugar, cinnamon, Cajun spices ... or one of these mouth-watering combinations:

Thursday thirteen: 12 inspiring quotes my husband gave me (+ 1 he didn't)

I'm participating in Thurday thirteen!

My husband is far better organized than I am in the morning, so he packs all of our lunches while I'm still getting ready for work. A few weeks ago, little cards starting showing up in my lunchbox each day that said "Bloom" on them. When opened, they each had a lovely, inspirational quote inside.

It was such a sweet, unexpected surprise to receive little reminders of my husband's love in the middle of my work day (just when I needed them the most!). To tell you the truth, I was kind of sad when they stopped.

Unfortunately, there were only 12 Bloom cards in total, so here's one last inspiring quote from the side of a Starbuck's cup!

The most important thing in life is to stop saying "I wish" and start saying "I will." Consider nothing impossible, then treat possibilities as probabilities. ~ David Copperfield

Doodle day: little plant of horrors

Little Shop of Horrors
Ballpoint pen & embroidery on vintage dictionary page

(da-doo)
I was walking in the Wholesale Flower District that day.
(shoop-da-doo)
And I passed by this place where this old chinese man...
(Chang-da-doo)
He sometimes sells me weird and exotic cuttings.
(snip-da-doo)
'Cause he knows, you see that, strange plants are my hobby.

He didn't have anything unusual there that day.
(nope-da-doo)
So I was just about to, you know, walk on by.
(good-for-you)
When suddenly, and without warning,
There was this...
(Total eclipse of the Sun)

It got very dark...
And there was this strange humming sound,
Like something from another world...

And when the light came back this weird plant was just sitting there.
(da-doo)
Just, you know, stuck in, among the zinias.
(audrey-two)
I coulda sworn it hadn't been there before.
But the old chinese man sold it to me anyway.
(da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-doo-doo-doo-doo)
For a dollar-ninty-five.
