This is what I'm getting my daughter for Christmas

(via: Topless Robot)
He's called "Palm Beach Sugar Daddy Ken." He's real and you can order him here.
I'm relieved that Mattel was able to rush in and fill that big tacky hole left by the demise of the Bratz franchise.

What's flu with you?
I pulled the covers up under my chin, shivered, and tried desperately to ignore the sound of my own breathing. Each hollow exhalation was amplified, like the sound of dry hair trapped between a pillow and an ear.
The Tylenol finally began to push down on my eyelids and I slowly spiralled into thick, heavy darkness. My neck, back, arms, and head took turns sending dull pings into the murk of my dreams, insistent that I not forget the achy misery waiting for me when I regained consciousness.

Behind the clouds
When you're feeling lonely, lost and let down
Seems like those dark skies are following you around
And life's just one big shade of gray
You wonder if you'll see the light of day
Behind the clouds, the sun is shining
Believe me even though you can't quite make it out
You may not see the silver lining
But there's a big blue sky waiting just behind the clouds
I've heard it said that this too shall pass
Good times or bad times, neither one lasts
But thinking that your luck won't ever change
Is like thinking it won't ever stop once it starts to rain
Behind the clouds, the sun is shining
Believe me even though you can't quite make it out
You may not see the silver lining
But there's a big blue sky waiting just behind the clouds
Yeah, there's a big blue sky waiting just behind the clouds

My many colored days

from: My Many Colored Days by Dr. Seuss
Some days are yellow.
Some are blue.
On different days I'm different too.
You'd be surprised how many ways
I change on Different Colored Days.
On Bright Red Days how good it feels
to be a horse and kick my heels!
On other days I'm other things.
On Bright Blue Days I flap my wings.
Some days, of course, feel sort of Brown.
Then I feel slow and low, low down.
Then comes a Yellow Day and Wheeee
I am a busy, buzzy bee.
Gray Day....Everything is gray. I watch.
But nothing moves today.
Then all of a sudden I'm a circus seal!
On my Orange Days that's how I feel.
Green Days. Deep deep in the sea.
Cool and quiet fish. That's me.
On Purple Days I'm sad. I groan.
I drag my tail. I walk alone.
But when my days are Happy Pink
it's great to jump and just not think.
Then come my Black Days. MAD. And loud.
I howl. I growl at every cloud.
Then comes a Mixed-Up Day. And WHAM!
I don't know who or what I am!
But it all turns out all right, you see.
And I go back to being ... me.

I think I might have been the one who killed Kenny

I never watch South Park, but I just couldn't resist making an adorable South Park version of me at SP Studio!

Music to watch cartoons by
Husband, Child and I went to see the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra today. They played amazing music while Bugs Bunny cartoons ran on a big screen at the front of the concert hall! I've always liked the music in Warner Brothers cartoons, but this concert showcased it in a way that was quite wonderful. We had a blast!

This made me smile
... and made me want to take the stairs more.

It's amazing how such a simple thing can change people's behavior so drastically.

Sex ed.
Husband, Child and I were having a pleasant family breakfast, discussing this and that and nothing in particular.
Child piped up, "Hey, remember that episode of The Office with the animals on the paper? That was sooooo funny!"
Husband and I looked at her blankly. "I'm not sure which episode you're talking about," I said.
"You know," Child replied, "the one where somebody changed the watermark on the paper so it was two cartoon characters humping."
Husband snorted and immediately began coughing and choking, spraying his mouthful of coffee (and his multivitamin) onto the kitchen table. Child ran to his side of the table and started thumping him on the back.
After several minutes, when we were certain Husband was not going to expire, and after we had wiped up the spewed coffee, I asked Child, "Do you even know what humping means, young lady??"
"Of course I do," she matter-of-factly answered. "It's when two animals engage in the reproductive act."
Oh.
FWIW, I have no idea where Child got the word "humping" from. As best as I can remember, the episode of The Office to which she was reffering didn't even use it. I'm certain Husband never says it and, even though I have a major potty mouth and can take credit for just about every bad word Child knows, I assure you that she did not learn the word "humping" from me!

She's supposed to be me ...

... but she's far more lifelike than I am.
Anyway, if you're interested in making one of your own, head on over to My Avatar Editor.
Edited to add: Child tells me this is a Mii, like the kind you make on the Nintendo Wii. Who knew?

Egghead

What kind of eggs are you?
I resent that. I'm very petty.
