If art galleries were like the internet

Living in Canada, I get to see this kind of message a LOT.

I want to take my next vacation in the States just so I can watch me some Hulu!

We call it pop here

As far as I know, all Canadians call it pop. But I just assumed (based on television and movies, which have never lied to me before) that everyone in the United States called it soda. Is it simply that Team Soda dominates California, where most TV shows and movies are made?

Do you call it soda or pop? Register you vote at The Great Pop vs. Soda Controversy.

I'll never understand kids

Child saw Titanic for the first time last weekend and didn't even cry when Jack died.

This weekend she watched Animal Farm (the animated one from 1954) and wept openly when Boxer was taken to the glue factory.

Leonardo DiCaprio bravely slipping beneath the icy ocean waves vs. a loyal, yet poorly animated horse being taken away for "recycling." Seriously, which one would you cry for?

The old days

Me: Oh my god, this computer is so slow. The pony express was faster!

Child: The pony express? What's that?

Me: That's how they sent mail in the olden days. Y'know, before they ever had cars.

Child: You. are. so. old.

I am woman. Hear me ROARRR!

NEWSFLASH: bangbangcrash makes kid-style costumes for adults!!!!

How cool is that? My Halloween fantasies have come true!

I'm going to get me a plastic pumpkin and then I, my friends, am going trick or treating.

And after Halloween I'll wear it as pajamas.

More Bang for your buck

Husband is a big collector. He collects mostly nerdy-geeky things, so I wasn't too surprised when he acquired one of the packages that was sent out to Emmy voters to promote The Big Bang Theory.

What did surprise me, though, is how cool this little package is! It's actually a pop-up book that turns into a wonderful miniature Big Bang world:

I'm a grade 'A' tweeter (Twitterer? Tweeterer? ... Twit?)

I have no idea how they arrived at this grade, but I guess I shouldn't complain.

Anyway, if you really really really like lists, feel free to follow me on Twitter.

The adorable doll corollary

(credit: cubosabio)

We're big fans of The Big Bang Theory in our house, so when I saw these dolls I made a huge AWWWWWWWWWW sound, which caused Husband and Child to immediately rush to my computer to see them (that's our version of social networking).

We all agreed that they're the most adorable nerdy dolls EVER.*

* Husband wants you to know that he prefers the term "action figure." I want you to know that I think in this case "inaction figures" would be more apt.

"It's risky," said Experience.

"It's pointless," said Reason.

"Give it a try," whispered the Heart.

Wear your passion

(The Holstee Manifesto)

Speaking of passion ... I haven't been very attentive to this blog lately, and now you can finally see why. Check out my newest blog: Bored Blog Almighty!

Bored Blog Almighty came about because of a few lists (here, here & here) I posted awhile back on my other blog — they were lists of things to do when you're bored.

Surprisingly, those lists have been wildly popular.  Most days they account for 75% of the page views on the blog — which means about 1000 people a day (and sometimes more!) are visiting my blog to look at three lists that were posted between one and two years ago!

For the past year I've been thinking about doing another similar list and I've been collecting things to include in it. I've collected so many items that if I made the list now, it would have to be "1000 things to do when you're bored!"

So I began thinking instead about launching a separate blog to catalog all of the fun activities and ideas I had collected. The more I thought about it, the more I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Eventually, I just started doing it. And that, my friends, is what I've been working on this summer. The site just went live this week!

I don't know if people will like it, but I've been having a lot of fun researching it and putting it together. I add new activities 5 days a week, so if you're ever bored pop on over and have a look-see.

Plus, she can carry on a conversation!
