Ignorance actually is blissful

Every once in awhile I check out the songs that iTunes Genius kindly recommends for me. And, every once in awhile, I find something I like. Like this song, which I promptly downloaded and added to my favorite playlist:

I enjoyed my new song for a few weeks, always turning the volume up extra loud when it came on in the car.  That's when Child decided to ruin it by helpfully pointing out that the singer, Miranda Cosgrove, is the star of iCarly!

EWWWWWW, I can't stand that show! Everything about it irritates me.

Plus, I'm a grownup. I can't listen to iCarly. That's for kids.

When the song comes on now I skip it completely.

... Or I casually roll up all the windows so no one can hear what I'm listening to.

Happy blogoversary to me!

Wow, I started this blog FOUR years ago today. Back then I had no idea it would be the start of such an interesting journey.

In the last 4 years:

I started not only this blog, but two more blogs as well (and had to restrain myself from starting even more!).

I mined Child and Husband, family and friends for blog fodder.

I participated in challenges and challenges and more challenges (I was more successful at some than others).

I learned about HTML, CSS and RSS. I learned about templates and widgets. I learned about memes and rants and LOLs.

I joined Facebook — and later quit. I joined Twittertwice! I joined Pinterest. I discovered delicious, Feedburner, Flickr, Photobucket and sitemeter.

I was heartbroken when my personal words showed up on skeezy splogs. I was frustrated when other sites hotlinked to my photos and stole the bandwidth I was paying for.

I found out how it felt to be on the other side of the fence when I received a DMCA takedown notice for using a licensed stock photo without permission.

I celebrated my triumphs and learned from my mistakes. And I learned that I will never stop learning.

But, best of all, I met the most amazing people — people who have enriched my life. People like alantru, andiscandis, bonnie, Debi, Jack Gordon, Liv, Rima, Shelly, Teacher Bee, Tina, Vegas Linda Lou, WHW ... and many, many, MANY more.

Some of them came and went, with only a brief (yet significant) stopover in my life. Others lingered and, even though I've never met them in real life, I think of them as friends.

Thank you all for making the last four years so wonderful!

Who knows what the next four years will bring.

... I guess you can tune in on June 12, 2015 to find out. :)

Knowledge is power

Did I ever mention that I work in knowledge management?

I'll try not to let the power go to my head.
